What Using The Right Allergy Control Products Will Do

There are all sorts of products being sold as allergy control products now days. Some work great and many are just hype. Do your homework. Talk you your friends, doctors and companies that have been selling the products. Ask them what worked, how fast, what did it cost, easy or hard to use.

Have a friend that bought several air cleaners while living in London and even though they were rated #1 she thought they were junk. She now uses Austin Air Healthmates and loves them. Plastic vs metal??

Here is a fairly good article about how some of the allergy control products work.

Nasal and Sinus Irrigation – Get the Willies Just Thinking About It.

Saw a video a while back about using a nasal irrigation system to flush your sinuses. Made my skin crawl but all sorts of people swear by it. Got a friend who uses a neti pot almost everyday and he is the first one to tell you how great it is. Cleans him right up.

Here is a pretty good article that give a good explanation if what it is and some tips on what to use. http://currenthealtharticles.org/alternative-medicine/nasal-passage-irrigation-and-lavage/

It even talks about how it can help people who snore and restore taste. While it’s not something I would do it may help you.

Bed Bugs and Insecticides Don’t Mix

Here is another really good post from the people at the Allergy Store. Turns out that people have gotten sick and even died trying to get rid of bed bugs. When will people learn not to use pesticides and insecticides if they are not sure how they work.

What a lot of people don’t know is that the same mattress covers that have been used for years to stop dust mites also stop bed bugs. The good thing about covers is they are easy to use and effective. Kill to bugs with one cover.

Take a second and read what Mike has to say. http://allergy.allergystore.com/2011/09/23/bed-bugs-wont-kill-you-but-insecticides-can.aspx

Pollen Invasion

We were talking to some friends last night and one of them said their daughter called and said her allergies were killing her. She asked her if the trees were blooming, North Florida, and her daughter said her car is covered every day with green and yellow dust.

Springtime pollen invasion….

The only thing I can tell you is stay inside, I know it’s hard this time of year. You need to keep the windows closed in both the house and in the car, wear a mask if you are doing yard work, change clothes when you come in, wash your hair or brush it real good before going to bed. Air cleaners work well in getting the pollen out and there are some anti-allergen sprays that neutralize the allergens in the pollen. Last but not least, keep your drugs handy.

Dust Mite Covers Don’t Work .. Wrong

A post on Dust Mite Allergy Facts talks about a study done back in 2004 that came to the conclusion that covering your bedding in dust mite covers and vacuuming will not  help reduce dust mite allergens.

I hate to disagree with experts but in this case I have no choice but to disagree. We have covers on our bed, pillows and comforter and I can promise you that they do help. Before we put them on my wife would wake up every morning sneezing, puffy eyes and would feel really bad until about 10 or so.

We put the covers on and the very first night she slept better and the next day woke up feeling great. Sometimes I think these scientific studies are not broad enough or are conducted in the real world.

Anyway, here is the post and it links to the study. Read it and make up your own mind. Dust Mite Covers
